Mathematics

Mathematics in K–6 focuses on developing students’ mathematical understanding, fluency, communication, reasoning and problem-solving through their study of Number and Algebra, Measurement and  Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. These capabilities enable students to respond to familiar and unfamiliar situations, using strategies to make decisions and solve problems relevant to their further  education and everyday lives. We, at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour,  believe that students will come to know and understand concepts while working mathematically when solving a range of problems in Number, Space and Measurement using a variety of strategies, materials and technologies. The students will develop an appropriate language to effectively communicate mathematical  ideas and experiences and apply their understanding to analyse and solve real life problems.

Mathematical experiences provide each child with an opportunity to explore key mathematical concepts through a positive and dynamic classroom learning environment. Teaching programs address the unique needs and abilities of each child.

Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Catholic Primary School conducts assessments in Mathematics  to attain valuable data for analysis to improve the learning outcomes of students and to inform teachers of the students learning so point of need learning and teaching can take place in Mathematics.
