Science and Technology fosters in students a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world around them. Students are encouraged to embrace new concepts and to learn through trialling, testing and refining ideas. They are supported to participate responsibly in developing innovative ideas and solutions in response to questions and opportunities relevant to them and the world around them. Technology at OLPS
At OLPS, technology is integrated across the curriculum, where students use it to enhance their learning, as well as increasing their digital literacy. Our goal is to continue forward on our two stage journey moving from digital literacy to digital fluency.
Digital literacy is the ability to use knowledge, skills and competencies in order to operate in the world of digital technology.
Digital fluency is the skill of choosing and using specific technologies to achieve a desired outcome together with a justification of their choice.

K/1/2 : one to one ipads – using age appropriate educational apps
3/4: One to one chromebooks – using Google classrooms
5/6: One to one laptops – using Google classrooms
Additionally there are Apple TVs in each of our classrooms. Our students have access to coding specialists and teachers are regularly provided with professional learning opportunities to keep their knowledge and skills up to date. All staff and students have access to educational materials that have been aggregated and stored within the diocesan on-line Learning Management System.
Students develop their skills in using processes of Working Scientifically and Working Technologically to answer interesting questions and develop creative solutions to important 21st century problems.
They develop their curiosity and understanding about the Natural Environment and the Made Environment through learning about the Physical World, Earth and Space, the Living World, the Material World, Built Environments, Information and Products.
Students learn about the influence and relevance of science and technology in their lives now and in the future.
